Re: 64 empty cartridge cases

I have two cartridges of centipede for the C-64, one has a screw, but the other looks like this case with no screw. Of all the cartridges I have, that is the only one that looks like this sale. I don't know if either case is original, since neither of these cartridges has a label, but the PC board i...

Looking at their official website, they have changed the date again. Now it just says "December", with no specific date......

Re: 1541 Alps drives can't read a particular disk

I've seen this happen on some 5 1/4" disks over the years. Generally speaking the 5 1/4" disks seem to age better than their 3 1/2" counterparts though.
Oddly enough I don't believe this is an age related issue.

Re: A different C-64 video tweak

I was a bit surprised at the response to this project. Most of those cheap Chinese scalers do not give a good display (if they work at all). I guess this is all a bit subjective, but why not use the best display you can? Personally I like using CRTs with the C-64 too. If I want to use HDMI I'll use ...

Re: Any known bugs in the Super Snapshot V5?

I used to use a V5.22, and never had those problems. Currently I only have a V4, so I can't help a lot, but IIRC "@TV" will give you the ROM version in your cartridge.

Re: A newer composite converter than N4

I think I'll try my Commodore 1950 monitor next. But it is stored away and it didn't work the last time I used it. It can also display 15KHz RGB but has no component inputs. Have you seen this page on the 1950? It contains a couple of good tips for potential problems. https://www.bigbookofamigahard...

Re: A different C-64 video tweak

What I'm getting at is that once you're replacing all the 64 parts with modern electronics ... what's the point? Just get a PC. IMO there's no point anymore in this hobby if all the chips in your 64 now run 128 bit Linux on 18 core FPGAs. Working on one circuit is hardly "replacing all the 64 parts...
