Re: The C64 full size - where ?

They have not released it for North America yet. I preordered it through Amazon Germany but after several notices of delays (I pre-ordered in early Oct) and they changed the shipping cost from $19 prime to almost $40 I canceled it. I will wait until it gets here. My guess is March 2020. Retro Games ...

Re: 64 empty cartridge cases

I wonder what carts they work with? It doesnt seem like they will work with carts that use the standard Commodore Case.

Re: 1541C unusual "Shorter Board" version - J3?

As an update to my post above, I still can't identify any compatibility issues by switching on the track 0 sensor. I have been using this 1541C drive as my main drive every day and have used it with quite a lot of commercial software. I have also been using it for disk duplication and so far so good...

Ray Carlsen has used on of my modules to replace all 8 DRAM ICs on an older board 250407.

The 8 DRAM chips needed about 240mA of power in all. The single module now uses less than 5mA.
That is awesome! Nice Job!

Re: Video switcher

I find them useful and I am glad I still have a few. A few years back I bought one that was for Component video and it was a current product then and pretty cheap. S-Video ones are around but yeah I would never pay eBay prices for that. One of the ones I have is from Pelican and I think I bought it ...

Re: What is the feeling about the Mega65?

I am for sure looking forward to seeing this finish and shipping. I have been following it not to closely, for years. I want one because it will be fun to tinker with but I am not sure it will have a mass appeal that would be needed for significant amounts of software to appear. I think for that the...

Re: 1541C unusual "Shorter Board" version - J3?

I've read that the track 0 sensor is disabled from the factory - does this knocking happen even if you cut the disable jumper? No it does not knock if you set the jumper. I have 2 1541Cs, both with same board and on my second drive, that I got from someone else, I did the jumper to enable the track...

Re: 1541C unusual "Shorter Board" version - J3?

There is absolutely nothing generic about that component. The number printed on it is sometimes different. See: https://www.nightfallcrew.com/wp-content/gallery/commodore-disk-drive-1541-white-with-drive-mechanism-made-by-alps-electric/img_2165.jpg I think the confusion comes from this line in the ...

Re: 1541C unusual "Shorter Board" version - J3?

Today, I don't know of anyone owning a 1541C with the very short board which is working okay. They all died and all of them because of the big flat custom SIP chip. You do now. LOL. I still have my original 1541C with short board and it is my daily drive. I even kept the box, manual etc. as it was ...

Well... https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-Commodore-64-Computer-w-Original-Power-Supply/153652424273 That's funny. I have seen others that used white and brown keys to checkerboard the whole keyboard. Oh I see, I was sure someone whomped in a mechanism from another drive, I could only think of the 15...
