Re: Certified idea for a repairable heavy duty power supply
In the end having a PSU with just the transformer to have it certified did not work out. I will instead stick to the design of a transformer at 50/60Hz as described here: http://danieleredivo78.wixsite.com/c64psu so far I made 7-8 units delivering up to 3.5A at 5V. The nice thing is that using DC-DC...

Re: Thermal dissipation, RF shielding and ways of improving the lot
in 2 of my old breadbins I added some custom cooling, but since I HATE to drill the case to put fans, in this mod I used some special arrangement taking advantage of existing venting holes. So no C64 case was harmed. I just used hot plastic glue (easily removable) to put things in place. Runs very s...

I might bring a few C128 connectors with me during vacation this summer, then. If you come by the coast

Re: Commodore PSUs, voltage regulation, connectors et al
while I am working on a version with separate AC-AC converter as separate box, I am also going forward with a version as described in my blog as a per assembled kit, so that the user would have to assemble the high voltage part by insertion of the transformer in the box following very easy steps, no...

Re: Commodore PSUs, voltage regulation, connectors et al
Hi Stealth, the schematic you provided will basically provide the needed function to run a c64/128 and a drive 1541-II. But the design I had in mind was to use DC-DC converters and avoid AC-DC ones. This because AC-DC have much higher voltage inside since it rectifies 220VAC, which means having arou...

Re: Certified idea for a repairable heavy duty power supply
Surely it would provide same results on secondary side, it will still create a path to dissipate High frequences, but on the secondary you need 2 filters, one per each secondary winding. So on the High voltage in more practical.

Re: Certified idea for a repairable heavy duty power supply
The measurements are from the inside of the c64, so it IS taken on the secondary.

Re: Certified idea for a repairable heavy duty power supply
this is a test I made with my self built PSU of switching on the C64 with PSU switch.
Without C-L-C filter bewteen switch and primary of transformer:

With C-L-C filter bewteen switch and primary of transformer:

that's why I thought C-L-C filter is necessary.

Certified idea for a repairable heavy duty power supply
I have thought several ways to provide a new PSU to the Commodore community, but I've always got stuck on one point: certification. Selling non certified stuff puts the seller in a liable position in case anything bad should happen. There are several types of certification, but my biggest concern is...
