eslapion explained why using TTL to talk to HC at 5V is a very very bad idea.

Re: C64 Reloaded

... The money quote is on the first page: "It should be noted that in an actual application the TTL output will pull-up probably to about VCC minus 2 diode voltages, and HC will accept voltages as low as 3V as a valid one level so that in almost all cases there is no problem driving HC with TT...

Re: C64 Reloaded

I have been reading this thread since it started and it has now turned into a "Let's attack Jim Drew" thread. You can say what you want about someone being reasonable or being able to be reasoned with but what about name calling and personal attacks on someones character? That is what I s...

Re: C-64 PCB Through-hole Eyelet replacement

Some of the through-hole eyelets are gone, and I need to do some repair to some traces, as well. What a mess!! Nearly 20 years ago, I purchased some prototyping eyelets from Vector but they were too large for your needs. My only suggestion is to use standard female pin headers instead of an actual ...

Naaa... just the guy you pushed in a shopping cart across a busy street on a red light back in 1987 but hey ... that was pure fun! I still have abdominal cramps laughing at it when I reminisce on it!

Re: C64 Reloaded

@ckoba Sometimes I am pissed at the fact TNT banned me from "you know where" but when I read this thread and see the numerous pitiful nincompoops on Amibay and elsewhere desperately looking for those dreadful C64r boards, I think I should be glad. The C64 community has become infested with...

Re: C64 Reloaded

Using HC parts was not an accident. It was intentional, and a requirement. So putting the wrong parts was intentional... and you made it a requirement... says a lot! My original boards had LS chips that were soldered directly to the board (I have hundreds of them still if someone would like to see ...

Re: Before my VIC-20...

The PET is a very interesting machine from an era just prior to the arrival of what was then called "home" computers. I remember being fascinated by the ultra crisp display of a model III computer at a local Radio-Shack store. Here in Montreal, I know of a gentleman who owns two PET comput...

Re: C64 Reloaded

Hold it. That "xx" in the part specification is important, and that's a large factor in why eslapion considers you poorly. It's also why this thread exists is called "C64 Reloaded". The C64 reloaded uses the wrong type of logic chips, as you mentioned 74HC which is non-TTL toler...
