Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
Vaguely - I remember a cook? In any case that 128D setup sounds fun.

Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
Oh, are you a nerd as well? For me, the 1541's sound is also nostalgic, one clear memory I have is the first time loading GEOS, the sound of the stepper is different once the turbo kicks in, tangible evidence that something wonderful is about to happen. GEOS on a C64 is pure pain. Not when I was in...

Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
I want the old hardware. Weird but true. Maybe it's because I spent years listening to the sound of a 1541 stepper motor and whirring disks. There's a charm to the old hardware that new hardware can't replicate. Oh, are you a nerd as well? For me, the 1541's sound is also nostalgic, one clear memor...

Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
I can find you either FD controller on Aliexpress. The ED controller is the National PC8477BV or the Intel 82077AA, the HD controller is the DP8473V. eg: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005106937098.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.11.1ac21802Ivqx58 Apparently if you remove the HD contr...

Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
None of that is fun for me. I want the old hardware. All the weird things and exotic out-of-reach hardware I saw in magazines as a kid. Like my SFD-1001 drive. What's the point? I don't know, but a 1M floppy in ~1983 was more amazing to me as a kid than any TB SSD or GHz CPU is to me now.

Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
Well I received the adapter and indeed it doesn't work. The drive just spins and nothing else happens. I don't know if these mechanisms are still good. Oh well, another idea on the backburner.

Re: I'd like to propose a "FD-3000"
Well first I want to hook up just one laptop drive. I ordered a 34 pin to 26 pin floppy adapter and I'll see. Plus I have no idea if those laptop drives even work at all. Just another one of my random ideas ...
