Need help finding an old Commodore 64 game

Post by bigusschmuck »

Evening, new member here and having a heck of a time trying to remember the name of the game I played when I was a wee lad. Description (as far as I can remember):
Genre: Adventure/side scroller

Estimated year of release: Mid to late 80s

Graphics/art style: Very gritty and dark

Notable characters: Character started out with a sword and shield

Notable gameplay mechanics: Monsters would swarm from all different directions and take your equipment away, then you have a chance to get your sword back from the monsters. Very much a survival game.

Other details: Game starts out in a forest and monsters would swarm you until they strip you of your equipment.

Its not the usual fair of Ultima, Ghost n Goblins, Forest of Fear etc. Thanks guys for all your help!

Wow, my guess was Ghosts n Goblins, the only one that shows the monsters/ghosts stripping you of your armor until you are in your underwear. A novel method of showing damage rather than losing lives.

Ghosts n Goblins was a hit arcade game. There were probably clones of it made, especially in the UK where they had a whole industry of knockoffs. Try looking at Retro Gamer's magazine website:
