there are several highly dubious things on that kickstarter page.... for example you dont build a hardware prototype and then find out if the MCU you want to use is fast enough for what you want to do - you purchase a evaluation board for said MCU and just try it out.

You purchase nothing; you read the specs and figure it out. This buy-try-find out approach is strictly amateur/bush league.

I guess that's too complicated for some... reading specs?? That implies paying attention to technical details. What a lame, boring thing to do!!

sure sure. you can tell if an emulator will run fast enough by reading specs of an MCU - even before having ported it!

It was an interesting device. However, I don't know if it replaces an original Commodore 64...
