I believe I've heard the name, looks interesting, people should collect them.
Not that "small" footprint as it says in the eBay add.

Mytec and commanderkang are the trading names of the infamous Jeff Jarian.

Aha, Admiral Decker, seems there has been some problems there before?

Quite a number of problems from what I remember. It seems he hit the news, and forums some time back there.e5frog wrote:Aha, Admiral Decker, seems there has been some problems there before?

He was infamous for his handling and shipping of CMD hard drive clones. Now he's into C-64 chips? That's not good.

As e5frog noted, this is Admiral Decker.motrucker wrote:Some one just posted yet another PLA chip for sale called PLAtinum. Have you ever heard of this thing? Here is the only info I have so far on this chip.

Price wise, it looks llike this guy is milking it for all it's worth too.
The guy sold clones of the CMD HD, accepted money and never delivered many of the drives that were paid for!
Great product... BAD seller...

Jarian is the first person who mentioned to me the way a PLA operates on a C64 is to compensate for a problem with the C64 itself. He did mention PLAtinum back then.

I just learned some later generations C64 have the PLA part no. 251064-01. Seems to be a modern version of the 906114-01 made with HMOS technology.

I found a small discussion about it on a Swedish forum, seems to be made by Fujitsu and in this particlar case it was on a board with a 6581 SID and a 6510 CPU as well as a purple+gold VIC-II so I'm not sure it's for new C64:s only. Should be compatible to the other original types. One of them was dumped at Forum64.de and found to be the same as the other original PLA:s. Apparently this 251064-01 PLA was a replacement he got from an authorized repair place.
I don't think there's any reason to suspect boards using this PLA is incompatible with the U17 PLAnkton.

I have received almost all the components to start building and shipping the production units.

Definitely interested in getting one of these. I have a breadbin C64 that works fine and tests fine, but has some strange issues whenever I use my 1541 Ultimate II cart to do a kernel replacement with JiffyDOS on it (even though that works fine on my C64c model). I suspect that it may be an issue with the PLA on the breadbin, so I would love to get one of these and test that to be sure.
