It's a common chip to fail, it could be worth a try.

A few years ago, a PLA based on the Xilinx XC9536 appeared in the Commodore community. This circuit is now out of production and has been for quite some time.

The new generation of CPLD which replaces this circuit is the XC9536XL which runs at a lower voltage and has more features built-in.

E5frog has created a new VHDL code for the XC9536XL which includes a sophisticated chain reaction delay to ensure full compatibility with all versions of the C64 and exploits the built-in slew rate control and low power mode of this modern IC. The result is a PLA that is fully compatible with all C64 boards, FastLoad, Super Zaxxon, 1541 Ultimate I and II and consumes only 20mA - one fifth the power of an original Commodore PLA - one third the power of the SuperPLA V2 or V3.

This new PLA, when compared to the SuperPLA V3, proves to be more compatible, consume much less power and costs only a fraction of the price.

I certify the circuit used in the product to be a genuine Xilinx product purchased from an authorized distributor.

It will sell for 11.50 Euros or 12.50$US

I will be distributing the product in North/South America and Australia. European customers are invited to contact e5frog.

I dunno about this eslapion, rumour has it you don't know much about PLA's. ;)

Heh, looking forward to these actually. Glad my other order was delayed.

Yeah... so I've heard. Probably from Mr. Bus Contention himself.

That's probably why me and E5frog have already presold 80 units of PLAnkton... 8-)

Grab'em before they're all gone! E5frog is already sold out!

Please note:
A lot of people complained the cost of shipping was too high so I verified if there was a way to use Canada Post's Light Packet service instead of the Small Packet service with PLAnkton.

The main requirement is for the package to be less than 2cm (0.75 in) thick so I have resorted to using DVD jewel cases as a means of protection. The consequence for american clients is the cost of shipping is reduced to 6$US.

Is there a central point of info for PLAnkton? (ie a website)

I've already posted on it and I'm going to review it once I get mine, but I also want to give people a link for more info and ordering information.

@Tachyon
No, there is no web site for PLAnkton. I must admit I have my handsful right now.

The next project in line is the Behr-Bonz 64 and it's way behind schedule.

BTW, saw Jim Drew going on babbling about the HC issue on REMOVED.
