I have the original one, two of them, and they work fine for what I do. They don't have paddle support but I don't use it. The only thing that annoys me in the "DONG / BING" you get on power-on as the things boots up.

I got a SwinSID recently. I need to do more testing with it, but I found the compatibility somewhat hit or miss. For example, The Last Ninja sounds almost perfect, Ghosts 'N Goblins sounds mostly correct (some notes were off) and Tapper was very bad. In that case, the sound was muted and there was a horrible static sound at the start of each new level. Digital samples seemed fine, for example Impossible Mission's "Stay awhile.. stay forever!"

There seems to be several versions of SwinSID available, and I'm not sure if mine is new or old. It has a large metal box that covers most of the top of the chip, and there is one jumper with two pegs. Anyone know what the jumper is for? It seems to make no difference in sound quality if it's open or closed..
