Was there ever a 1541 with white/beige drive?

I don't think I ever saw one like this.

What about the 1541c? The case was the same lighter color as the drive on that model

Re: 1541 mechanism color
Oh I see, I was sure someone whomped in a mechanism from another drive, I could only think of the 1541-II or 1570 as having a beige color mechanism. I suppose the 1541C (that I never heard of before) was released at the same time as the 64C... I thought the 1541-II was the drive that went with the 64C.
I guess the ebay drive could also be a 1541C but with a 1541 case.
Either way I never saw a light beige mechanism in a brown case before. It's sorta like a color negative of the 1540.

That's funny. I have seen others that used white and brown keys to checkerboard the whole keyboard.eslapion wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 8:53 am Well...

I am pretty sure you are correct, the 1541C came out with the 64C. It is an interesting drive in that it has a track 0 sensor that can prevent head knock but for some reason Commodore shipped it disabled.Gyro Gearloose wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:09 pm Oh I see, I was sure someone whomped in a mechanism from another drive, I could only think of the 1541-II or 1570 as having a beige color mechanism. The 1541-II came out a couple years later to replace the 1541C and was often bundled with the 64C (Test Pilot and other bundles). It tends to be a reliable drive since the PSU is now external.
In this case it looks like they replaced a 1541 mechanism with one from a 1541C
