Commodore BASIC games assortment

Post by Baber64 »

Here are a variety of games I did not author, but I did make some color and sound updates to CBM games that were designed without those features as cross-platform games. Enjoy!

menu maker
This is something I made to create a quick and easy disk menu for a floppy disk of games. Amazingly, I still managed to get it to save the resulting menu program file within the CCS64 emulator.

snoopy
This was a sneaky attempt by Commodore to teach you negative numbers.

artillery
Nowadays, you can play a 2-player game like this on your cell phone like "Pocket Tanks". But on the C64, your friend had to be in the same room! I added a sound effect to this CBM game and color as well.

dam busters
Based on the classic World War II premise of a bomber tasked with taking out the enemy dam. A humorous quirk: If you bomb all the way through the bottom of the screen, your next successful bomb through that hole will actually travel into the Commodore 64 Basic memory area, and crash the program! You literally can bomb the program while playing this, something that won't happen on newer systems I assume.

star trek II
A friend of mine from St. Augustine Florida named James Paisley wrote this game. I hope he is well.

AFO
Another CBM release, a rarity from their Japanese game division where this game was released first in Japanese and then "translated" into English. The AFO simply means UFO as in Unidentified Flying Object or flying saucer. I think I modified the comments used in the game as well. Surprisingly fun despite just being controlled with number keys 4, 5, and 6!

Asteroids
I think this was a type-in game from a magazine. I added color to it. A great game controlled by a single keypress!

Civil War Battles
My first exposure to traditional wargaming, a great effort considering the historical source material. War is bloody.

Commercial.prg
This is simply a commercial comparing the C64 to the IBM PC jr., it's perceived competitor at the time. Seeing this now, I realize it would have been a better program with the Commodore music theme ("Invention") running while you watch the ad. Maybe someone can program that musical version?
