$400 for a crappy tank mouse, no thanks. I got a PS/2 to DB9 interface, which also allows it to work with atari, amiga, and with trackballs, etc.

Shrinkwrapped item at collector's prices. The ruin of any hobby based around vintage hardware typically begins with the deadly words, "investment grade..."

And pretty soon you have a ~2000$ setup to run geoCalc.

There is a more sensible way to run GEOS on a C-64, use an REU instead of a 1581. Granted this means an extra save at the end of a session, but the REU speeds GEOS up so much its usually worth it.

I also refuse to use an old tank mouse. I use a more modern laser mouse with an old Micromys adapter. It has great 1351 emulation.

I do believe plans were posted to make 1581 clones and using PC 3.5" floppy drives. I have a 1581 and I truly love it.

There are now 2MBytes GeoRAM expansions for a pretty decent price and PC PS/2 mouse to 1351 adapters for a pretty low price.

Would anyone like me to make GeoRAM expansions ? These are pretty easy to do.

Judging from how quickly these RAM expansion sell on ebay, or Amibay, or where ever, it might be worth your time and effort.
