Who was your favourite C64 publisher?
I'll get the ball rolling, Thalamus. Sanxion, Delta, Armalyte, Hawkeye. All amazing games for their time!

Strategic Studies Group (SSG)
Australian developer and publisher of wargames, both their own and also developers for other companies (eg SSI's "When Superpowers Collide" series of wargames). Everything they produced was excellent, rivalled only by SSI's very best.
Honorable Mentions
Strategic Simulations Inc (SSI)
Wargames and CRPGs. Generally of a high standard. Kampfegruppe, Demon's Winter.
Electronic Arts (Early period)
Their "Programmers are artists" ethos brought us some of the best ever games. MULE, Seven Cities Of Gold, The Bard's Tale, Dragon Wars, Battle Chess, Neuromancer.

Hard to choose - Thalamus would be close to the top of my list, along with Hewson and System 3.
Re: Who was your favourite C64 publisher?
i'd probably go with Hewson (and Rack It), Thalamus and Mastertronic at the budget end of things... although i'm tempted to add Firebird too.
Disclaimer: a message board post from this person shouldn't be seen as any kind of indication that a project has been started or is ongoing because as a programmer he has the attention span of... oh look, a squirrel!
Re: Who was your favourite C64 publisher?
I love Thalamus titles, but the main-stay of my collection was mostly budget games as that's all my paper-round would pay for.
