Re: Emulators

And the best CRT emulation on an emulator: Micro64: http://micro64.de/ I gave this a shot, and it absolutely has a boatload of tweaks available for the video. Not sure why this is, but there is also a second layer of settings available under "PAL Emulation". As much as I played with it though, I ju...

Re: Emulators

And the best CRT emulation on an emulator: Micro64: http://micro64.de/ Thanks for that link - I will have to try this out to see. This is one area in emulation that just doesn't seem to be quite right. I've tried the various options in other emulators to get the CRT look but none of it feels quite ...

Re: What's your favourite Emulator?

Is there any way to get CCS to run in windowed mode from within the program itself? It boots to full screen within about half a second and I can't do anything to stop it, and I can't find anything to change it to windowed mode which is really annoying. Hit Alt-V (or F10->Options->Video) Highlight S...

Re: Emulators

I used to use Frodo quite a bit, but I think CCS64 won me over. Frodo is interesting because it supports oddball platforms such as BeOS, and I believe I used to run it on my BeBox back in the day. Looks like it's at 4.1b. This is the same version I got back in 2000, so it hasn't been updated in a wh...

Re: Well boys, I'm ready to write my first program, ever.

I can't but help smile when I see someone new digging into something so "old". I personally have been on quite a ride since I got back into things about a year ago and have not regretted the time I've spent. I put "old" in quotes because I think the knowledge gained (or experience) is still relevant...

Re: What's your next purchase going to be?

I don't have *plans* on buying anything right now, but sometimes I can't pass up a "once-in-a-lifetime-deal". So - who knows.

I too would like an Easyflash 3. And a reliable power supply. :|

Re: What's your favourite Emulator?

I am particular to CCS64. I was happy to register my copy years ago, and actually think the DOS version gives the best experience (although I only use that version on Win98 boxes). I also like to use it for development because I can modify the .D64 file (i.e. copy files over) while it's still loaded...

Re: What's the most expensive item you've purchased?

I think a 4000T was probably the most expensive, but I can't really recall what I paid. I bought it when they could still be found on SoftwareHut back in the late 90's. For the 8 bit (or actually, 16 bit), it was probably a SuperCPU. I think I may have paid a fair amount for Wheels too. All of this ...

Re: Old floppy disks

You can also carefully clean an old floppy. I've taken some pretty bad floppies back from the grave (oxidized and/or molded). I prefer denatured alcohol, but others use isopropyl with success. Be careful though when cleaning. Don't saturate them - I've found the soft cushioned interior will become a...
