Re: C64 Headphone mod question

I mean it wouldn't be terribly difficult to make a proper circuit to drive headphones, but where would you put the volume control?

Re: C64 Headphone mod question

That's an interesting question.

I always just used the audio out from the video cable to route to a receiver/amplifier and plug my headphones there.

The 64 audio is quite noisy and the power supply itself is also very noisy for audio work.

I don't have an easy answer right now.

Re: C64 Headphone mod question

If the mod is just this part it's likely to be an audio transformer used to match impedances. Although what for exactly is hard to tell without knowing what kind of headphones this is supposed to go with. There are many types of transformers still made. https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/filter/audi...

Diagnostic cartridges are simply a tool, with their own strengths and weaknesses and blind spots. Like any tool, really.

Well there we go, a happy end.

Oh and you're welcome!

Re: With the vic-ii removed...does the floppy work?

The C64 motherboard uses plated through holes, that means when the PCB is first manufactured, the holes are plated with copper inside which conducts to both sides: a healthy PCB would still work with solder just on one side of a device pin. This suggests that either you damaged the board while pulli...
