Re: Dead VIC-20

I feel bad. I never ended this thread. I know I fixed it because I don't have any units that don't work. I'm going from memory now. The screen I got with the horizontal lines was because there was a dry capacitor which was keeping the video signal too low. I believe it was the one just to the left o...

Re: Commodore DIN Plugs

It's been a few years since then. The vendor I used to buy these from went out of business recently. I've found another vendor that sells them for about the same price. It's CBMstuff. The DIN plug they sell is probably a Pan Pacific. I bought a bunch of them for a project. Everything else still appl...

Conneticut Microcomputers Inc. ADA1600 Interface for PET

I just got an ADA1600 IEEE-488 to Centronix printer interface for Commodore PET. It has four DIP switches on the bottom. I have no idea what they do. I can find hardly anything about this interface online. I found a little bit of information at vintagecomputer.net but no manuals or software. I am go...

Re: Dead VIC-20

Thanks for the reply. I know it's not an issue with the video cable. I have two similar VIC20s. One works fine. The other has no video. I am now waiting for a replacement VIC chip for the one that doesn't work. I'm not going to test it further with the VIC from the working unit. I also need to figur...

Re: Dead VIC-20

Real quick here's what I know. It's not the CPU, ROMs, or CIA chips. The VIC was bad, but it's been replaced. Now I get a black screen with what could best be described as diagonal dashes. I'm using a 1701 CRT. I don't know how it would look on an LED monitor. Now I'm assuming there a problem with t...

Dead VIC-20

I have recently purchased a VIC-20 that appears to be dead. It's a 324002-01. I've worked on C64, but this is the first VIC-20 I've ever even messed with. (The springless keyboard is kinda sad.) My question is, will this thing generate a background without the ROM chips or the CIA chips? In other wo...

Re: Commodore DIN Plugs

Thanks for posting your search results. I checked them out but couldn't find an exact match. The easiest way to check them is the ground pin spacing on the front. It seems the standard now is 5mm. Most of the jacks on Commodore computers have a 10mm spacing. Anyway, the DIN-5500-S was a match. The v...

Commodore DIN Plugs

I’ve been looking for DIN plugs for the 1541. I wanted to purchase them from a distributor such as Mouser or Digi-Key; but, I can’t find an exact replacement. Here’s what I did find though. A distributor named Pan Pacific sells a six pin DIN-5500-S. I emailed them for a data sheet since they don’t h...
