I still haven't heard anything about Jim Drew's REU project. He's as bad as Jim Brain about keeping us informed.
There is nothing to report. It's a list of "to do" projects. It fits under the 6510, so it doesn't tie up the cartridge port.

So I have been testing the REU of the 1541U-II with my C128DCR and various flavors of GEOS. GEOS2.0 - GEOS2.1 - Wheels - MP3.
With the REU set for 16MB and in C64 mode all flavors of GEOS are working and recognizing the max memory allowed.

GEOS2.0 up to 512KB
GEOS2.1 up to 2048KB
Wheels up to 2MB
MP3 up to 4MB

With the REU set for 16MB and in C128 mode 40C none of the flavors of GEOS are working.
So I scaled down.

At 512KB. GEOS2.0 Pass
GEOS2.1 Pas
Wheels Fail
MP3 Fail

Same at 1MB except, as expected, GEOS2.0 recognizes only 512KB

Same at 2MB except, as expected, GEOS2.0 recognizes only 512KB.

I repeated the test in 80C mode.

At 512KB. same as 40C mode
At 1MB. same as 40C mode
At 2MB. GEOS2.0 recognizes 512KB
GEOS2.1 fails and gives the error:

System error near $9FB0.

A lot of money, energy and time needs to be invested to adapt this IP to an FPGA or CPLD, create the PCB and build this thing.

Who's in?
I can offer PCB design and DFM (design for manufacturing) for the REU. I can route up to 100x160 4 layer (However I don't think more then 2 layers are required.

I love to have a REU for my SX64 !

I assume you mean 100x160mm. The offer is attractive but I am more or less in survival mode right now.

indeed 100x160mm. I later realized the topic was more then a year old.

Just don't assume the project isn't on the backburner... I invested a LOT of money on this with no result yet.

I sure would like it to come to fruition one day.

Me too. I hope soon. Feel free to contact for PCB design or prototyping

What I really need right now is 6502 and VHDL coding. Good at that ?

Sorry for the necroposting but, I am also interested in this 16MB REU... is there any progress on it?

I have given up on this. The guy that started the whole thing (in the other forum) had indicated that he received something like 10 e-mails from people showing interest. BTW - He never reply to my e-mails.

In any case I am now following this, which is already in development.. https://www.vintageisthenewold.com/rc20 ... nt-part-2/

It is not 16MB but .. 4MB in a real REU are better than 16MB in an imaginary REU.
