C64 with 1 MB RAM

Post by 8bit »

New project .
This expansion was developed by me for the C64. There is built directly in the C64.
The expansion is full compatible with software for c64 . With this expansion you will get a 16 virtual c64 for your task .
Features:
1.This expansion divides the 1 MB of memory to sixteen blocks of 64 kB .
2.VIC and CPU operated in this same time in one , or two 64 kB BANK RAM .
Currently, the system and a special version of Turbo Assembler is ready.

Is it possible to give the C64 its own video memory?
I think the c128 does.

I think in extra RAM you could do all sorts of storage for page-flipping and what not, but it seems to me that color RAM is hard-coded in the C64, so regardless, that'd still be a bottleneck of sorts.

Oh well, maybe an FPGA c64 could be hacked to do it. :?:

I wonder how many c64's could fit on a head of a needle. :)
How about four C64's on a chip?

Glad to see this post. I have trying to track down this idea thanks to an old Transactor Magazine article on this subject. I could only dig up this:
ftp://www.zimmers.net/pub/cbm/documents ... /1028.html
And then I finally tracked down the right issue of the Transactor, and this document:http://www.commodore.ca/manuals/funet/c ... 256kB.html
Do you the info on how you did this, that you would share?

I found the issue of the Transactor that carried the first article I am aware of on this subject. If anyone is interested, here's the link:
