reset site major face lift push.

Post by zap » Thu Sep 01, 2016 4:30 am

Their is a push to change the RESET site into more of a download only site http://reset.cbm8bit.com/ any thought on this ? look at the site be proactive let me know what you think http://reset.cbm8bit.com/?dir=issue6

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated keeping in mind it's a Retro Computer Magazine site.
I have started on the new site so any thoughts on it's appearance and functionality would be a massive help now and more work to make change later.

Shane.

Suggestions:

Show the cover images rather than a list of names

Have a summary of each issue's contents & article titles

Show the magazine's Twitter feed

The RESET home page will have images of all magazines
along with a brief description of the content, links to the pdf
and cover disk, when you hover over a mag a popup will
have a list of contents. Magazines will no longer have their
own page.

I'm working on a search using NUTCH and SOLR
this will allow you to search all magazines for keywords.

The Twitter feed i will look into for the next feature push for the new site.
once i have a working site i will publish a link to the development site
for more feedback.

I personally like the presentation by DLH. Just one web page with the picture of the covers and link to download.

For the reset magazine a brief summary of contents under each picture would look good. How about the links to the D64?

http://reset-development.cbm8bit.com/ <= no where near finished next push will have many fixes for formatting.
Ok this is what i have so far the content and description have not been added yet.
You can upload magazines via a publish page making adding magazines easy.

What should we do for the background, a tiled background or a simple color any
images for the background or color feedback would be good.

Hover over the download buttons gives the d/l count.

Looks very good so far, good job.

I think the simple background looks better. But may I suggest high definition pictures for the covers. Just to be able to read them. As an example see # 8. It reads clearer than the others.

Keep the background plain - maybe Commodore light blue as a colour?

Better Quality covers are on the way also hovering over a cover will give you a large cover you can read.
The light blue background, I'll push that in the next update see what it looks like.

I'm thinking about a
  • button hoover over it and get a list of contents.

    Any Other feedback.
