TapEx is a tool for analyzing, verifying and cleaning Commodore 64 tape images.
Currently it loads TAP V0, TAP V1 and DC2N RAW files (16 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit),
and saves TAP V1 only. TapEx is a wordplay on Tipp-Ex, an ink removal product.
Why is it written?
==================
While both Final TAP and tapclean (forked off from Final TAP) are both excellent tools
there are certain things I wanted to try doing in a different way. Rather than forking
off Final TAP for my own project, I wanted to try doing something completely on my own.
For now it is Windows only, but a possibility for ports to other platforms at a later
stage isn't totally excluded. Don't hold your breath waiting for it, though
How does it work?
=================
It basically tries to emulate what the loader would do on the C64, so if data fails
to load on the real thing, it's likely that it would fail to decode properly in TapEx
too, and likewise anything that successfully loads on a C64 or emulator should decode
properly in TapEx.

Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires. -John Steinbeck
