I wasn't sure whether to upload this or not -- hardly anyone will benefit. It's a SuperCPU patch for Melbourne House's Lord of the Rings graphic/text adventure.
If Lord of the Rings was famous for anything, it was famous for being slow. So it made it a perfect candidate for an accelerator cartridge.
I won't go into the details of what was involved in patching the game, but I'll offer a few suggestions for playing.
Save your game often. If you want to reload part one, enter LOAD and then NEW GAME 1. To reload part 2, enter LOAD and then NEW GAME 2. The beginner game can be reloaded with LOAD and then NEW BASIC.
There are a couple walkthroughs available on the internet. One of which suggests SAY TO SAM "GO NORTH AND KILL A BLACK RIDER." Wishful thinking. This is not how to kill a black rider.
You don't have to say SAY TO PIPPIN "GIVE MATCHBOX TO ME or SAY TO TOM "HELP. You can shorten this to PIPPIN "GIVE MATCHBOX and TOM "HELP.
You don't have to say KNOCK ON WHITE DOOR. Simply KNOCK.
I played all the way through part 1, and the beginner game. I haven't played part 2, other than to start it and check that I could load a finished game from part 1.
Is this a good game? It has good points and bad points. Certainly, speeding it up got rid of a major problem.

Oh, thanks for that! I will download it and see if I can run it.

Re: Lord of the Rings on SCPU
I'll try it on real hardware shortly (though on a FD4000 not a 1581)
