Hi Gyro Gearloose,
Thank you very much for you advice.
I don't want to dilute this very interesting discussion on the 1541C.
I think I should move this Blue Chip BCD/5.25 Disk Drive dive to another thread. I tend to go all over the shop most of the time, apologies.

Well here's an interesting article about Commodore & compatible drives from the '80s

There's one drive I never heard of: the Commander II.

Here's an interesting eBay ad for a Commodore 2031 Disk drive.

I haven't seen one like this before......

That's a 2031 "LP", low profile, as compared to the metal case full height version. Both 2031 versions are rare, I see them less often than the 1551. It's not a terribly useful drive however as it requires a IEEE interface but doesn't store more than a 1541, it's the same single-sided format.
Very rarely you find a 2031LP complete with the box which makes it very desirable for completists. Without its box it's less valuable.
And AFAIK there's no fast loader cartridge/ROM that speeds those drives up, as even the IEEE parallel drives are not especially fast.
A 1581 is all-around more desirable IMO. Or something like a FD-2000 if you can snag one up.
But prices in recent years are just absurd, like Canadian real estate...
