Looking for a music disk, poss. By sight&sound?

Post by marcfrick2112 »

]Hello all, I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm looking for a music disk I used to have a music disk that had a number of Pop songs. I remember that 'Thriller' and 'break my stride', were on it, and other Pop songs.. The display was a music staff with notes on it going along with it. I Think it might be from Sight & Sound Software, as they have a music program that uses the identical staff. For the life of me , I can't find the name. Hopefully someone knows this program.

Thanks, Marc

It doesn't sound familiar.

Instrumental versions of rock songs on the Commodore 64 were usually handled by "Sidplayer". Fans would trade floppy discs of the song collections for that player. Here is what it looked like:

I'm pretty sure I had this disk when I was a kid. I recall music notes playing visually in that way, with loadable popular songs on the disk - Billie Jean and others. I'm sorry i don't know what it was called. It's hard to find these basic music editors now that the scene is awash in SID trackers. Here are a few possibles:

Music Composer
Music Maker / Music Studio (Activision)
Will Harvey's Music Construction Set (Electronic Arts)
Smooth operator

Music Construction Set by Electronic Arts sounds like the best bet. It was very common and I remember it was very intuitive.

For those who remember "Synth Samples". One of the late versions was "Swinth" which gave a graphical view of the tracks, enjoy:

Yes! That's the one. So far I've found 2 volumes of the 4 released. Thanks everyone for the help!
