Tau Ceti crashes on SD2IEC

Post by Starglider »

Hi, I've tried 5 different D64 and PRG variants, but each time Tau Ceti loads, it freezes after 5 seconds.

Any ideas?Image

Thanks!!

Thanks!

Odd... Unless there is some anti-cartridge/freezer code in there.

Could it be a fault in my machine? I do occasionally see some garbled text on screen in general in programs or BASIC, which seemed to be relieved by removing the joystick from its port.

That's the only thing that I think is up with my hardware.

Can anyone test on the SD2IEC?
Thanks!

@Starglider
Is it possible the software is designed to run on a PAL C64 and you have an NTSC machine ?

I do have an NTSC machine. Is there any way round the issue, like a poke or hack?
Thanks!

Can you run the software in WinVICE ?

Of course, just wanted to do it on the real machine that's all.
Thanks!

Well, when you run it in WinVICE is the emulator set to PAL or NTSC ?

Could it be that it requires an actual 1541? There was an NTSC release to USA and Canada by Thunder Mountain. Perhaps you just need that version.

Confirmed, all the versions out there seem to require PAL. Maybe a physical disk of the NTSC version is needed to create the first NTSC .dsk file.
Thanks!
